Condition Grading Guide

Every item we sell is graded honestly using the scale below. Grading reflects both cosmetic condition and, where tested, working function. We always disclose known faults in the product description — please read it alongside the grade, and ask if you would like additional photographs.

Our grades

Mint

As-new condition with no signs of use. Cosmetically and functionally excellent, often boxed or with original accessories. Rare for vintage equipment.

Excellent

Very light signs of use at most. Fully functional where tested. A superb example that displays and performs beautifully.

Very Good

Light cosmetic wear consistent with careful use. Functions correctly where tested. A dependable, honest example.

Good

Noticeable cosmetic wear such as marks or brassing, but sound. Any functional notes are described. A genuine user's item.

Fair

Heavier cosmetic wear and/or minor functional issues, all described. Suitable for use with awareness, for display, or as a project.

For Parts or Repair

Sold as non-working or with significant faults, as described. Ideal for spares, repair or restoration. Not guaranteed to function.

A note on testing

Much of our equipment is decades old. Where we state an item is “tested”, we have checked the functions described. Some vintage features (such as light seals, meters or battery-dependent functions) may still need attention — if in doubt, please ask before buying.
